Head of English Faculty

Dr S Narjis Fatima is a dedicated educationist with more than eleven years of teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. She completed MA in English language and literature from Sarojini Naidu VanitaMahavidyalaya affiliated to OU, Hyd. She did B Ed in English language teaching methodology from Government Institute of Advanced Study in Education (IASE, Hyd), and also qualified AP & TS-SET. She was awarded a doctorate in English by Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU, Hyd). Her areas of interest include Literature, English Language Teaching, Gender Studies, Phoneticsand Soft Skills.She has presented papers at national and international conferences and published papers in journals of national and international repute. Besides, she has been a coordinator for various cultural events and an English editor for the college magazine.

Considering the status of English as a lingua franca, students need to developEnglish communication skills in order to meet their personal and professionalgoals.To accomplish this, we have a well-stocked college library, state-of-the-art language laboratories and competent faculty.

The Faculty of English plays a pivotal role in honingstudents’ language skills as well as soft skillsthat will enable them to engage in meaningful interactions with others.We havewell-equipped English language laboratoriesthat helpstudents enrich their listening and speaking skills.In addition, the various activities conducted in the lab acquaint students with the nuances of verbal and non-verbal communication whileinculcating team spirit, creative thinking, organizational abilities and leadership qualities in them.Special emphasis is laid on developing study skills, comprehension skills, and interpersonal skills.A conscious effort is being made to develop technical vocabulary to enable learners communicate effectively.Moreover, we seek to foster the concept of lifelong language learning in students to facilitatethe continuous acquisition of knowledge and skills required for personal fulfilment and professional growth, catering to the needs of society.
